From Framing to Drywall in North Park

This two-story ADU began with a simple move: building entirely within the footprint of a long-standing backyard shed. The focus was on volume and light—carefully placed windows, a compact stair, and three operable skylights providing a luminous ceiling to provide wall space for studio work.
As the project moved from exposed studs to drywall, the architecture came into focus: tall ceilings, clean planes, and light cascading from above that makes the small footprint feel generous. The shift from construction to enclosure underscores what we love about ADUs—how an efficient form can hold a surprising amount of space, transforming a former shed into a bright, fully realized home tucked into a backyard.
