Breaking up the volumes and doubling down on the views

Aiming to turn their family organic farm into a multi-family compound of friends (and various livestock), our clients brought us in to add a new home to their 7-acre property. We gave a big footprint a humble look by breaking it into four separate volumes inspired by modest historic homesteader structures with modern detail. Vaulted rough-sawn Douglas Fir ceilings, stained glass that wraps the corner, reclaimed brick, and walls that slide away serve as a casual backdrop for sunset dinner parties and garden puttering.  Oh, and we put an outhouse in the primary bathroom!
